The company systec was founded in 1974. The first patented trolley lock system was developed in 1981. Since then, systec has become the market leader in this segment. systec ships its products to more than 50 countries worldwide and is the partner of all the major shopping trolley manufacturers.

In the year 2000, systec took over the company Mercovend. This takeover enabled systec to add the trolleymatic advertising handlebar to its product range.

In 2002, systec took over the German trolley service company Ungurean Service GmbH. Ungurean had already been operating successfully in the trolley service business for 25 years.

Development of the ergogrip modular handlebar system was finalized in 2005. ergogrip is the very first handlebar to offer the special function of reducing the static charge on shopping trolleys. With this development systec again underscores its leadership in the market.

SmartStop was introduced at Euroshop in 2005. SmartStop makes sure that trolleys stay where they belong and that is on the parking lot. It is an excellent way of protecting retailers' investment in their shopping trolleys.

In 2006, the retractable seat belt system for shopping trolleys, called SmartSafe, was introduced. With SmartSafe, children are securely held in the shopping trolley. Parents can therefore enjoy their shopping knowing that their children are perfectly safe.

With the new design of the Vario XT, systec enlarges its offering for handle systems in 2008. Comfortable holding positions, as well as a flexible design (scannerholder / magnifying glass / coin lock) are characteristics of this unique grip. Additionally provided with a transponder, the Vario XT will become an important supplier of data from the newly developed and intelligent liveTec system. This modular management-system provides important information about your shopping trolleys: e.g. comprehensive statistics about trolley usage and trolley inventory, inventory assurance or frequency analysis.
